Chrysler Repair: 93 Lebaron Sedan: temp gauge/compass, rear view mirror, compass reading

Question
QUESTION: My 93 lebaron comp/temp gauge above rear view mirror doesn't read outside temp and not sure it reads direction rite either is there anyway to reset this?

ANSWER: Hi Jay,
Is this a sedan or a convertible? Is the readout an elecronic vehicle information center? or is it an overhead console (which includes lamps)? What does the temp reading show? Does the compass reading change as the car change direction? Thanks for clarifying.

QUESTION: Sedan, overhead console with the lamps. The temp is reading 0c won't swich to fernheit and I'm pretty sure compass switches jus not sure if it's right

Answer
Hi Jay,
The temp sensor is in front of the radiator mounted on the closure panel that surrounds it, probably low (behind the bumper fascia). It has two wires: violet/light green that goes to pin 9 at the console and black/light blue that goes to pin 10. You can check the continuity of the wire between the plug and the console for both of those and if found to be OK then replace the sensor. If a wire problem let me know as there are severa; disconnects along the way...but look at the wire as far as you can see for sign of any rub-through of the insulation.
Try calibrating the compass: turn the key "on", turn display off by pressing comp/temp button, while still holding that button press the u.s./met button for 10 seconds (after 5 seconds 'var' will show on the display), the CAL symbol will then light and the display will reappear.
Then turn the car in full circles three times with a 48 second time interval in an area away from large buildings/metal objects the compass will be calibrated.
It may be that where you live there is a discrepency between true north and magnetic north so you adjust for that 'variance' by another use of the buttons. Tell me where you live and I'll tell you how to do that.
