QUESTION: 97 concorde 3.5
i also checked if i had a pulse with a test light at the coil pack connector while cranking to each coil. i did not have this. but i have power on the grn/org wire from the asd. so i figure the pcm is grounding the signal from the asd. and i used my meter to check resistance at the coil, it was OFL when i checked from the connector terminals to the towers. on all of them. but i had 12k ohms from tower to tower on all of them. i appriciate all the help i can get. thanks

ANSWER: Hi Bradley,
These observations don't quite make sense to me. Have you tried to get fault codes? Try the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on", doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then either count the number flashes between each pause of the 'check engine' light or look for the mileage reading to change to show 4 digit numbers preceded by a P. Let me know the results, either way, which will tell us what the pcm believe is the problem.

QUESTION: I apoligize for being vague. i believe the code was p0340. crankshaft sensor code. I have a camshaft reading, but no crank reading. I unplugged the CMP to see if the problem would flip, but it stayed the same. So i would say the CMP is good. I have already replaced the CKP and the problem still exists.

Answer
Hi Bradley,
I would suggest that you disconnect the battery for a minute or so, then reconnect and try to start it. You will get a 1684 for the battery disconnect, but all the other codes will erase. Crank it over until you set a new code. The 0340 is the cam sensor, the 0320 is the crank sensor. You can check the sensors by measuring for pulsing between the tan/yellow and black/light blue(cam), gray/black and black/light blue(crank) while you turn it over by hand using a ratchet on the crank pulley bolt with the ignition 'on'. The reading should pulse between 5 and 0.3V several times per revolution if the sensor is good.
