Chrysler Repair: 03 concorde lxi 3.5l: bucking when stopping, torque converter clutch, 4 digit numbers

Question
QUESTION: since I got this car I have had an issue that after driving it for a period of time when coming to a stop it has a bucking sensation. The rpm doesn't drop or change which leads me to the tranny but it feels like it wants to quit running and then it resumes to normal after I have completed the stop. I do not feel anything in the brake pedal and It doesn't act up during acceleration. My trans fluid level is correct and the fluid is not burnt and is in good condition. what are some things I can check that may be causing this issue.

ANSWER: Hi Damien,
The one transmission item that might cause this is the torque converter lock-up clutch being slow in releasing. That gives the same impression of stopping when you have a manual transmission without putting in the clutch. It might be caused by the low/reverse solenoid or pressure switch which are located in the solenoid box on the driver side of the transmission.
You could try the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer to see if the mileage reading changes to show any 4-digit numbers preceded by a P which would be a fault code that might explain what is wrong. Let me know any such numbers and we'll go from there.

QUESTION: I tried what you asked and no codes appeared   it said  "done" and then a bunch of dashes and then the mileage appeared.

ANSWER: Hi Damien,
The "done" with no codes means the problem has not been detected by the pcm or tcm. Watch the tach when you slow down and notice if the rpm changes abruptly when the bucking occurs which would be a sign of the release of the torque converter clutch.

QUESTION: Ok  I checked watched the rpm gauge and it does not drop at all  this issue only happens after i been drive for 30-45 minutes then it starts to act up and the longer i drive the more frequently it happens.   thx for your help    the dealerships and garages charge me a fortune and they dont find nothing wrong.  1 said it was the cam shaft sensor   idk

Answer
Hi Damien,
Without a fault code there is very little certainty as to why this is happening. It isn't clear to me whether this is even engine related, or transmission related. You could try putting it in neutral when it is 'bucking' and then see if it dies which would at least say that the engine is the issue if it did so. I would believe that if it were a failing crank or cam sensor it more typically cuts out at any point in time, after driving it long enough to heat up, rather than when decelerating only.
A problem that shows up on deceleration is sometimes due to the exhaust gas recirculation valve hanging up slightly ajar rather than closing tightly and that can be helped by lubricating the valve's stem. So check that out as a possibility as that can happen without setting a fault code.
But I can't give you any certain solution based upon what I know so far. Perhaps if the problem gets worse a fault code will then show up.
