Chrysler Repair: 300m sunroof wont stay closed, 2000 chrysler 300m, metal chassis

Question
hi Kevin,
i have a 2000 Chrysler 300m. the problem is i opened the sunroof no problem. when i went to close it it went to the closed position and automatically reopened by itself.i tried to put it into the vent position but the same thing happens. if i try to close it by tapping the close switch it goes all the way to the closed position but then begins to reopen again. any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
bob

Answer
Hi Bob,
I would wonder if the open/vent switch might be stuck in the 'open' position, or its wire might be shorted to ground, which is what the switch does to cause the roof to open. The wire is white and is attached to pin 1 of the switch. So you could remove the switch and test to see when you check for continuity between pin 1 and any shiney metal chassis surface you get 0 ohms or there about. If so then remove the plug and see if you find a 0 ohm reading between pin 1 and pin 4 which if so would say that the switch is stuck internally in the "open" position. If it reads infinite ohms, then check to see if the pin 1 on the plug side shows a short to ground which would suggest that the wire insultation has a break in it which allow the wire to short to metal.

PS Sorry for the delay, but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had been referred.
