Chrysler Repair: 05 300 Touring: climate/fog/ airbags, passanger airbag, self calibration

Question
I have an issue with my climate control not working from lowest to highest settings. Also the foglights and the passanger airbag light is on. I have checked the fuses but everything seems to be ok. HELP.

Answer
Hi Chris,
If the HVAC system is of the Automatic Temp Control type, then the remedy has to be mediated by a Diagnostic Readout Box which is likely a dealer or independent shop level of tool. You could ask for two things: a readout of any trouble codes stored for the HVAC unit, and a self-calibration of the control doors of the unit. The latter may solve your problem, but if not any specific fault code numbers/names would be of interest. You might be able to get a free code readout at an Autozone parts store.
On the foglights, carefully inspect fuse 7 to see see if it might have a crack in its wire and measure that voltage is present on both contacts.
On the restraint problems, similartly focus on fuses 8,27,28,30 for continuity. There is also a possibility getting a fault code readout for this system using the DRB.
Let me know of any fault codes you get. If all the specific fuses are truly good, then the foglight circuit is about the only one I can give you trouble-shooting tips about. The other systems need a trouble code to make progress.
Interestingly, the manual temp control unit can do self-diagnostics and self-calibration. That was also true on the '04 and earlier 300M models, but not on the 300C of '05 and later.
