Chrysler Repair: Sebring coupe: rear shock removal, rear struts, rear shock

Question
I am trying to replace the rear struts on my car and had a couple questions one is the boot at the top of the shock bar needed and if so do you have an easy do it yourself way of getting it off the spring would not come off with the boot on there.

Answer
Hi Bijan,
I haven't done that job, but the manual shows there to be a 'cap' that covers the shock top and from my experience that, if rubber, should be removeable by lifting the edge with the tip of a small screwdriver. But perhaps you are speaking of a different part.
In doing the job, it is suggested that the interior of the vehicle's rear shelf trim panel be removed. To do that you have to remove the rear seat back, speaker garnish, rear shelf, and then the shelf front cover (the part that runs from the midline to the corner and downward, just below the shelf proper). Let me know if you are still having trouble with the job.

PS Sorry for the delay but your question just appeared in the 'pool' to which it had been referred by the other expert.
