Chrysler Repair: DVD player jammed: 05 T&C, cd gps, hi jill

Question
QUESTION: The DVD player in our 2005 T&C has jammed and won't eject discs. Looking for a way to access the player somehow. No info in manual. Not sure I want to try to remove the whole center console (radio, CD, GPS, etc). Pulled out the cup holder to see if any access that way- but seems not. Suggestions?

ANSWER: Hi Jill,
According to the manual, you should be able to remove the player by removing the cup holder, then remove the trim panel above the cup holder by pulling it straight out, which I believe will reveal a couple of screws on the bottom edge of the main bezel. Then remove the center console bezel in its entirety that surrounds all the units by prying gently ourward on the edges. Then the screws that hold the DVD player in place can be removed and you can remove it and disconnnect the plugs at the rear. If you can't figure a way to open it an auto audio shop may do it.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your question but it just appeared in the 'pool' to which the other expert had refetted it.

QUESTION: Hi Again - Your instructions worked fine! However I can't get the player to move forward more than an inch or so to unplug it. (I am also having trouble with the other plugs so I can lay the console down - there must be something you press to release them, but I couldn't see it...not sure you have any more advice, but thought I'd mention in case I am missing something obvious! Thanks

Answer
Hi Jill,
I looked again at the '05 manual and don't find anything else to release before removing the DVD player. If you have the large bezel that surrounds the entire console removed (just let in hang loosely by its plugs) and you have removed the screws that hold the player in place, it should then come rearward to give you access to its hidden plugs and then total removal. You might try removing the radio/cd players (or whatever units are above and below the DVD) in case one of those is hanging up the DVD player from being freed. One other thing to look for would be a pin hole near the DVD drawer: on some players if there is one you insert a fine pin (like a skewer) into the hole that releases the drawer. Sorry to not know of any other item to do.
