Chrysler Repair: 96 trans code 0733, solenoid pack, mail tomorrow

Question
QUESTION: So, I have replaced the Solenoid, the module control, the relay and now the filter.  I just don't get it.  Is there something that I am not doing?  A reset or something?  I have pulled the cable off the battery a couple times to reset the CEL.  Again, thanks so much!!

ANSWER: PS: Sorry if you tried to 'rate' my answer but couldn't. There was a glitch in the system that is not straightened out. You can do it now. Thanks.
I have the envelope addressed and will get the copies in the mail tomorrow.

Hi Jeremy,
I will be pleased to xerox copy the three pages that show the step-by-step for diagnosing and remediating this code, just in case there is a fine point in the wiring trouble-shoot that you overlooked. You would want to check for continuity and for a short to ground and also that the voltage to the solenoid is at the full value.  Let me know a postal mailing address and I will send it to you.

PS Please 'rate' my answer, and once again please consider giving me a yes for nomination.
Thanks

QUESTION: I went to replace the speed sensors today because someone else mentioned it could be a problem also.  When I went to do it I found that I apparently didn't put the connector back on the solenoid tight.  So now I am back to the car attempting to go into third and I got some new engine codes from Advance. P0733 is gear 3 ratio incorrect and P0700 trans control system malfunction.  Could you tell me if there is something else I can do now to fix it?  Again, I REALLY appreciate all you have done for me.

Thanks,

Jeremy

ANSWER: Hi Jeremy,
The 0700 is a general 'alert' that there is a trans fault code stored in the memory. The 0733 means that the ratio of the input and output speed sensors was not proper for when the trans went to 3rd gear. It could be a stale code if the code was set when you didn't have good positioning of the solenoid pack plug and now you have corrected that. To check out that possiblity you could disconnect the battery to erase both the 0700 and the 0733, but be aware that action will cause a 1684 (but ignore that). Then drive it, see if it will shift properly and get advance to give you a new readout. The speed sensors are supposed to be tightened to 20 foot-pounds (about the same as a spark plug), so verify that. And of course be sure their plugs are seated properly.
Did you ever get it out of limp mode?

QUESTION: Well it was staying in 2nd gear for a while, but now it attempts to shift to 3rd a couple of times before it goes back to limp mode.  Which is how it started.

Answer
Hi Jeremy,
If the speed sensors are installed properly, and because of the history being that the solenoid pack is new, and if you verified the wiring between the solenoid pack and the tcm, then the code points toward there being a problem in the transmission proper (that would cause slippage in 3rd gear, and if true provoke a removal and opening it up, unfortunately). I am not sure where to go from here, but maybe if there is a good trans shop let them know the history and maybe have them do some pressure testing to see if there appears to be slippage of the underdrive or overdrive clutches that are needed for 'direct' drive.
