Chrysler Repair: Door/electrical problems?, chrysler sebring convertible, chrysler sebring

Question
My 98 Chrysler Sebring convertible just started having a problem that is driving me crazy.  My door chime, interior lights, and locks go off randomly while driving.  The doors are latched and fully closed as far as I can tell because the indicator above the odometer has mileage listed instead of saying "door".  This is a very distracting problem for me while driving.  Hopefully it's an easy fix because I just spent over 2800 rebuilding my transmission.  I don't think my wallet can take another big hit.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer
Hi Amanda,
What you describe certainly sounds like a door latch issue. Try pushing 'out' on the inside door panels of both doors while you are driving it to see if you can provoke the behavior. If so, then move the latch striker mounted in the door frame for that door inboard a bit to take up the slack. It might be right on the edge of setting off the 'door' warning light, but still happening on and off quickly, which would cause the lights/chime/door locks to cycle.
