Chrysler Repair: check engine light, engine controller, town and country

Question
QUESTION: is it safe to drive my town and country if the check engine light is on?

ANSWER: Hi Bob,
Yes it is, but you should try to determine why the light is on by getting a fault code stored in the memory of the engine controller. Tell me the year/make/model and I will tell you how to get that code.

QUESTION: the car is a 1993 town and country with the big 6

Answer
Hi Bob,
Turn the ignition key "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light which will remain "on", to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to assure an accurate flash count. Then tell me the flash counts in order that they appeared and we'll go from there.
