Chrysler Repair: car starts/ wont start, 99 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
I have a 99 chrysler lhs and sometimes it srts and sometimes it wont start. hen it wont start i hook it up to jumpers and it will start but sometimes it does a rough idle and either does a weak start or cuts off when it idles. do you know what i need to fix?

Answer
Hi Jeffrey,
The quickest answer would be to get any fault codes that may be stored in the engine control computer. Use the ignition key: "On-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window in the cluster to see the mileage reading change to show any four-digit numbers preceded by a P. Tell me those numbers and we can then go from there to solve the problem. Because you get help from a jump, perhaps your battery is getting near the end of its useful life, so see how old it is and compare that to the warranty life.
