Chrysler Repair: Trans codes 0715, 0731, 0733, chrysler sebring lxi, 1998 chrysler sebring lxi

Question
I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring Lxi coupe and i took it to a shop and it shows that it has a Po715 input/turbine speed sensor, po731 gear ratio incorrect, po733 gear 3 ratio incorrect and po700 trans control system malfunction. Can you please tell me what these codes mean and how and where do i get the parts and how to fix them? thankyou for your time.

Answer
Hi Shanee,
The 731 and 733 codes could be the result of the 715 code, and because that latter code involves simply replacing the input speed sensor which is external (on the front side of the transmission near to the engine) and modest in cost (about $50-100 depending upon where you buy it) and simply unscrews for change out (remove plug by lifting tab, unscrew, replace, tighten about the same as a spark plug to 20 foot-pounds of torque), I would start by doing that. Then disconnect the battery for a minute, and then see how it drives. If it seems OK then check for fault codes turning the ignition key "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading changes to show any of the 4 digit numbers you had before or not. It they show up again, then it probably means there is internal mechanical/hydraulic problems in the transmission.
So keep your fingers crossed and replace the input speed sensor. It has a 'mate' that looks just like it located to the rear of the transmission so don't mistake them. Simply call around to parts stores/dealers to see who has the best price on the sensor.

Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had been referred.
