Chrysler Repair: 06 T&C 3.3L Water Pump Replacement, water pump replacement, torque specs

Question
QUESTION: Roland
I saw your advise on how to replace the the water pump that you have given in this forum.  I tried all your recommendation and still can't seem to get the new pump.  I saw others answers that they disconnected the engine mount on the passenger side.  Would you recommend this or have any other suggestions?
Thanks
Bob

ANSWER: Hi Bob,
Because I don't have the reference to which you referred, I can't know for sure what I said there. But here are the steps shown in the '05 manual:
Drain the system, remove the accessory drive belt shield, and the drive belts.
Remove the bolts that hold the pulley to the hub. The rotate the pulley so as to align its openings with the water pump hub spokes, then move pulley inward to position it between the pump housing and the hub. Then rotate the pulley to allow access to the water pump mounting bolts.
Remove the water pump with the pulley loosely positioned between the pump body and the hub. Then remove and discard the seal. Clean the seal groove and sealing surfaces.
Install is the reverse procedure. Let me know if you need the torque specs.

Although I wish I could show the figures in the manual, the idea is to remove the pulley bolts and then 'collapse' the pulley closer to the pump body, then remove the pump bolts. That collapsing technique reduces the depth of the pump which may then give you the space you need for removing it. It doesn't mention a need to remove the engine mount. I don't have the '06 manual so I can't be sure if it modified the procedure.

Please let me know if you don't understand, or to tell me that it worked.

QUESTION: The procedure you described in your response is the one I was referring.  It's still doesn't give enough room when I do your procedure.

Answer
Hi Bob,
I just noticed on my 'log' sheet that I got a 'reader feedback' note last year saying that in the '06 model year you need to support the engine and remove the bolts on the passenger side engine mount.
So give that a try. I hope that is the trick you need to finish the job.
