Chrysler Repair: transaxle replace96 minivan, railway ties, grease monkey

Question
I am a heavyduty grease monkey for a trucking company...mechanically inclined but the reality is...most heavyduty mechanics is easier than some of this tight fitting stuff.  Here is my problem...I am replacing my tranny from a "good" one from a wreckers...in my driveway because it won't move.  This is a 96 grand caravan 3 speed 3.0 Litre.  Getting the old tranny out I have everything out...even the exhaust pipe with the flex hose on it.  But that rear engine mount is tough to get at.  I noticed I don't want to pull the center pin because it looks like it won't clear the firewall anyway...so that leaves undoing the rear mounting bracket (the bracket cover is off now)...the 4 bolts...3 on top are left...one on the side which I pulled already.  That's all I have to get it out, those 3 top bolts on the rear motormount bracket.
I have it on a prof tranny jack...have motor supported by a floor jack and have the van about 24 inches off the ground with railway ties...though it looks like I will be messing with height to get it out....help.  I mean do I just keep working at those bolts with determintation...or am I missing something here?  Is there a trick?  I can't get a long ratchet only room for a short monkey wrench...
Do you access those bolts personally from top or bottom?  What do you use...any tricks...?
Thank You for YOUR expertise....and sharing your priceless experience.

Answer
Hi Greg,
Leaving out the disconneting details that you probably have already done:
remove one rear engine mount bolt from the top
remove rear engine mount shield screw
install engine support fixture and support engine (you have used a jack for this but you may want to consider the alternative).
raise vehicle and remove the wheels, hub nuts and drive shafts
disconnect exhaust flex joint from the manifold
remove torque converter dust shield; mark torque converter and drive plate with chalk, remove torque converter mount bolts
rotate engine clockwise to gain access to torque converter bolts and remove them
remove front engine mount (ie. the mount on the front of the engine compartment) insulator and support bracket
remove rear engine mount shield
remove rear engine mount bracket bolts and bracket
remove starter bolts and set starter aside
support transmission, remove left side fender splash shield
remove left transmission mount
lower the trans to access the crank position sensor, and remove the sensor
remove lower bell housing bolts,
lower the transaxle assembly.

I don't know if this addresses your problem or not. It is from the '95/'98 manuals.

I can share the 30-step procedure for removing the transaxle by xeroxing and postal mailing you the pages from a '98 shop manual or a '95 shop manual, or both so that you can compare with what you have done so far. I haven't worked on a trans removal for a van myself so I can't tell you what to do now. Let me know if you want these pages by sending a 'private' follow-up question giving me you postal mailing address and I will get these on the way quickly.

PS Sorry for the delay but your question was just referred to the 'pool' where I found it.
