Chrysler Repair: PT cruiser - head replacement, headgaskets, oil leak

Question
We recently found the head on our 2001 PT cruiser was warped and needed to be replaced.  Upon purchasing and having the new head readied for being the replacement we found that we had been sold a 2002 head. This was discovered when we saw an oil leak onto the exhaust manifold.  Per Chrysler in 2002 the head had been redesigned and the oil passage was in a different location...Can this be made to work on our 2001 engine?

Answer
Hi Pat,
While I don't have any history of this change, I would imagine that if the headgaskets are different for the '01 and '02 engines (for the same engine, which you didn't happen to mention its displacement) then there would be no way to use the '02 head on the '01 block. But that is just a common sense way of answering your question. The passageways would have to matchup or the oil will be blocked by the gasket or the metal.
