Chrysler Repair: P0132 code for 05 Chrysler Pacifica 3.5L, grease monkeys, chrysler pacifica

Question
Kevin,

I emailed you earlier regarding a P0132 code my 2005 3.5L Chrysler Pacifica was throwing. I had already changed the O2 sensor twice and still the code was comming back on.

I have since broke down and taken the car to the chrysler garage to have the repair made.

This is what I have learned from my experience.

First this applies only to 2005 model year Pacificas, with a 3.5 engine and a vehicle built date on or before July 8, 2004 of which I have.

It is recommended to use a 2004 Pacifica 3.5 oxygen sensor. The reasoning is this: The oxygen sensor heater resistance is differant from the early and late 2005. This will affect how long the PCM will turn on the heater. The early 2005 will not heat up correctly and this will create a cold oxygen sensor with high voltage, thus setting the P0132. Also there is a potential for the same concern with the downstream, this will set a P0138.

How would ever think if you have an 05 pacifica you would need to buy an 04 O2 sensor. I'm hoping to recover some parts money now.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi John,
Thanks so much for sharing that info. I will make a note of it and pass it on. I guess that was part of the early sales of that new model. What a snafu!

I am competing for that recognition and I need your support to win. Do it now as the deadline approaches at 2 pm CT Thursday. I am neck and neck with a "microsoft code writer" so we 'grease monkeys' have to stand together!
