Chrysler Repair: Minivan voyager 2001: code 0601, powertrain control module, caravan voyager

Question
Hi Roland, you told me to check the engine codes and I did: 0601 and 1684 showed up. can you tell me what to do next, and is there any risk from continuing to drive the car, as it is tough to find parts here in Costa rica for this 2001 Caravan/ Voyager. It has a 3.3 liter engine.

Answer
Hi Joquin,
I hope your problem is resolved.
May I ask a favor of you? I am seeking the recognition of being the 'volunteer of the month' at Allexperts. To do that I need your nomination which you can give by clicking on the "Thank/rate the expert" button below. That will take you to a page where you will see the question "Would you like to nominate the expert to be volunteer of the month?" If you would click on "yes" I would be most appreciative. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Hi Joquin,
The 1684 simply says that the battery power to the pcm (powertrain control module) has been disconneted recently (withing 50-100 key cycles). That would happen when the battery was disconneted at its clamps.
The 0601 unfortunately says that there is an internal failure of the pcm and the only solution is to replace the pcm. I would look for a used one, but be sure that it is for the same model year/engine/vehicle/and that if you have or don't have a vehicle theft security system (VTSS) and/or a sentry key immobilization module (SKIM) that the replacement pcm is for the same situation as your vehicle. I haven't looked for a used pcm but you may find a vendor on the internet. I'm sorry to give you the bad news, and to not have an identified vendor of a replacement pcm, but if the vehicle is running i don't believe it would be harmful to continur to drive it.
Roland
