Chrysler Repair: error code 41, error code 41, inner fender

Question
Hello Roland. I asked a question like 6 days ago about my alternator over charging my battery when I purchased a reman power control module. Well I had the alternator tested and it is fine so I put the old pcm back in and it works but it still doesn't seem right. I did the technique to get the engine codes and it gave me one of 41. Which means there is something shorting or something. So I can't really see any shorted wires unless it's really deep in the wiring  harness. What should I do? The car is an 87 lebaron 2.5L with a new battery new alternator and reman pcm(that I think doean't work).
Thanks
Robbie

Answer
Hi Robbie,
If it is showing on the voltmeter when the engine is running that it is at a voltage slightly higher than when you have the ignition in the run position but the engine not running then I believe that it is OK. If you have a voltmeter tell me the battery voltage "off" vs when running and we'll see for sure. Otherwise the 41 code may be stale rather that current.
Disconnect the battery for a minute. Then start and run the engine. Then check for new codes. You will get a 12 because you disconnected the battery, but see if the 41 came back or not.
If it does then the dark green wire that is shown to have 0 volts (at the alternator with the engine running) or at least less than 12v is either open or shorted to ground. It connects to the power module on the left side inner fender shield. The diagrams don't show the pin numbers, so you have to look for the wire color. Check that wire for continuity and for short to ground with the plug at the power module removed and the wire disconnected at the alternator.
