Chrysler Repair: 96 town and country: wont start, diagnostic capability, engine controller

Question
Driving my van, making left turn, and van just shuts down. timing is good, sensors are good, wires and plugs are good. Have fire, don't know why this thing will not start. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Lisa,
I am not certain if turning left has anything to do with it dieing, so lets assume not. There is an on-board self-diagnostic capability you can use to help find out what is wrong.
If you haven't tried to see if the engine controller has stored a fault code that would be the first thing to try. Turn the ignition switch 'on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light which remain 'on' to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to assure an accurate set of flash counts, then write back and tell the counts in order of appearance. I believe we'll get a useful clue to this problem.
