Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler T&C blower problem, blower motor resistor, chrysler town and country

Question
QUESTION: I own a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country. The blower for the heater does not work at all. The indicator lights around the blower speed dial works. I checked the fuses & swapped the front blower with the rear blower relays in the fuse panel. The rear blower works when I switch to rear control. Is the problem in the blower switch? Thanks ahead for any help!!

ANSWER: Hi Ron,
Is this a conventional temp control or an automatic temp control unit?
If it is a conventional unit: does it work on highest blower motor speed, or on none of the speeds. If the former then I would suspect the blower motor resistor block is blown or fuse 10; if the latter then fuse 10, the blower motor itself or the switch. I can tell you about the blower motor resistor block if fuse 10 is OK.
Let me know if its automatic temp control unit which has separate possibilities.

QUESTION: Roland,
This is my second reply to your last answer...
I told you yesterday that the blower does not run at any speed....BUT, while driving home yesterday afteroon, the blower came on at high speed and continues to run at high speed even when the controls are turned off.
Thanks, Ron

Answer
Hi Ron,
That appears to be an issue with the blower motor resistor block. If you squeeze the sides of the glove box near the top edge it will allow you to roll it down and thus get behind it where you will find the block which has wires running to the blower motor, etc. Get a replacement block and replace the burned out one by removing the plugs and the 2 screws that hold it to the evaporator housing. I assume that you have the conventional type of control panel, not the automatic type. If the blower continues to run even when turned off then I would suspect that the front blower motor relay for the blower system is stuck closed. Try switching it with another one of the same part number located in the power box under hood to verify that is the cause. It shouldn't run with the blower control in the 'off' position and that would suggest the switch is bad, but if it runs with the blower switched 'on' but when the entire unit is shut off that would suggest the relay is stuck closed.
