Chrysler Repair: 2005 Sebring - all hot air all the time, digital temp, climate control

Question
Hi Kevin
Roland is 'on vacation' and the site suggested I follow-up with another expert. We have a 2005 Sebring which we purchased used a few months ago. The climate control has a problem which we are trying to fix ourselves, if possible. When the engine is running at any RPM above idle, the air from the HVAC is always hot, and very hot. Even when the AC is on and turned to maximum low we get nothing but very hot air. I've resorted to allowing the inside of the car warm up and then I turn off the HVAC until I need a little more heat.

I believe our car is equipped with ATC. The head/control unit has a rotary fan speed knob, a digital temp display, and 6 buttons: auto/off, temp up/down, ac/recirc, floor, mix, defrost. Roland suggested holding floor, mix, defrost at the same time to see about a fault code that would display. I turned the ignition to 'on', and held the buttons for over a minute and nothing happened. Roland also suggested that the 'blend air door' is likely either stuck or not working. He said that it was on the bottom of the unit and can be accessed without any dismantling to speak of. My husband is quite handy and mechanically inclined (he recently replaced the drum of our dryer with only basic instructions) and if you could provide some instructions (a picture or two would be wonderful) as to what he's looking for, we could check whether the door is working. Thank you.

Answer
the blend air door motor is under the dash  and will require the whole dash and HVAC box to be removed to replace it if bad. I have no pics to show U where they are  u can get under there and look for the little black motors that move when u turn the knobs
