Chrysler Repair: 00 Voyager wont go forward in drive, left turn signal, bulb burns

Question
Hi Roland,

I have a 2000 voyager, lately when it is put in drive it wont go forward?  If I put it in third it will, and then once I get going I change it to drive and its fine,,,,? I also have problems with the left turn signal, the right one works fine.  If I repeatedly press up and down on the hazard signals it works - for a day or so? And then I have to repeat the process?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks.

Answer
The race for "expert of the month" is going down to the wire.
Chrysler "repairer" vs. Microsoft "coder".
One vote per each answer is permitted.
Click on "Thank/rate" button below, then click on "Yes" for nomination.
Deadline to vote is Thursday, 4 PM CT.
Thanks

Hi Lisa,
May I ask what you did about the transmission? If you would like to tell me there is a "Thank/rate the expert" button below which if you click will take you to page where you can "comment".
May I also ask a favor? On that same page you will see the question "Would you like to nominate this expert to be 'volunteer of the month"? If you will click on "Yes" that would be appreciated.  I am competing for that recognition which is based on nominations from questioners like yourself. Achieving it will increase awareness of the Chrysler repair category.

Hi Lisa,
Try checking the fluid level in the transmission by means of its separate dipstick. If it needs fluid only add ATF+4 type. If that is OK, then try for finding any fault codes that may be stored in the memory of the trans controller: use the ignition key "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapased time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage changes to show instead a 4-digit number preceded by a P. Let me know if any and we'll go from there. If that just shows "done" then there are no codes. If nothing changes, then go to an Autozone parts store to get a free code read with a plug-in code reader.
On the turn signals, check to see if one of the turn signal bulbs is not working and replace it. What you describe occurs when a filament of a bulb burns out.
