Chrysler Repair: ignition switch r&r: 02 Concorde, chrysler concorde, 2002 chrysler concorde

Question
how to disassemble the key switch to a 2002 chrysler concorde

Answer
Hi Roxann,
The switch is attached to the lock cylinder housing on the opposite end from the key insert.
Disconnect the negative battery clamp (the switches mentioned below are 'hot' so you want to avoid shorting but this isn't absolutely necessary particularly so as to avoid other 'gremlins' from doing that; just be aware that the wires coming to the switch are carrying voltage and so the terminals of the plugs when removed from the switches must avoid being touched to nearby metal so as to avoid a short circuit).
Remove tilt lever attaching screw and remove lever
Remove upper and lower shrouds from the steering column (remove screws from the underside (lower) shroud.
Remove the sentry key immobilizer module with antenna ring that surrounds the key lock cylinder (if you have that feature). Disconnect its electrical plug, then remove screw that attaches the module/antenna ring to the steering column
Remove the multifunction switch from the column
You should now be able to remove the ignition switch which is held by two screws to the lock cylinder housing. First remove its electrical connector. Then remove the switch. Notice that the tab on the end of the lock cylinder mates with a socket in the switch and also that a tab on the body of the switch mates with a cutout on the lock cylinder housing. Mate these up when reassembling.
Reassemble is the reverse.
