Chrysler Repair: 01 Sebring: No interior lights, door locks,, chrysler sebring lxi, chrysler sebring

Question
QUESTION: Hello! I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXI with the 2.7L
engine. The problem now is all these things no longer work: stereo and cd changer, power
locks, alarm & remote, trunk release and interior lights
including dome and the ones at the windshield over the
radio. All this stuff worked. Do you have any ideas what may be going on
here? Please provide me step by step instruction.

Thanks so much for any help you can offer!!

ANSWER: Hi Atif,
A fuse in the fuse box that is hidden behind the dash (remove driver's side end cap for access) is blown, #5 (10 ampere). Replacing that fuse may solve the problem, but if it blows again then it will be necessary to test each of the circuits that you listed to find out which one is overloading the fuse. So when/if it blows again try to notice what was the last circuit that was called for when it blew. Let me know and we'll go from there. You will need a volt-ohm meter to do the testing. The fuse may just have fatigued however so you may not need to do that.

QUESTION: Hi Roland Thank you for your quick reply... while i was waiting for your answer i found similar post with your reply to replace #5 (10amp)but after doing so i still have same issue (what will be my next step) Thank you again..

ANSWER: Hi Atif,
I assume the fuse #5 blew again, correct? If so, then check fuse #11 (20 amp) in the power box that is under the hood. If that is OK, but fuse 5 blows then it will requires a meter like I described to find out which is blowing it. Do you have such a meter?

QUESTION: That is correct i am checking all the fuse 1 by one to see if can find somthing...

Answer
Hi Atif,
Until you have a meter, I would simply begin by making sure that all the audio equipment is off.
Then make sure all the doors are closed while you put in another fuse #5 (If you can't access the fuse with the driver's door closed, then push in the spring loaded button(s) on the door frame which senses when the door is open while you put in the fuse). Then release the buttons and if the fuse blows then it means that one of the interior bulbs is shorted in its socket and that would require that you remove the bulbs and check them, and ideally have a meter to check the resistance to ground at the cold side of the fuse socket.
