Chrysler Repair: 04 concorde antifreeze leak near bleeder valve, oil filler cap, positive crankcase ventilation

Question
Hello, I have an antifreeze leak near some sort of bleeder valve in front of car. Noticed leak twice on garage floor. Car does not overheat, however; have thick brown stuff in oil and cap.

Answer
Hi Sandra,
There is a bleed valve on the front center of the engine which is used to let air escape from the cooling system when it is being filled. There are also one or perhaps two weep holes in the same area to allow small amounts of coolant that get into the water pump mechanism due to slight seal leaks to escape. The bleed valve should not leak, but rather be closed tight so examine it and determine what tool will open/close it and try to be tighten it. The water pump bleed hole leak, if that is the source, is not a problem if little is lost thereby. So if you know the system bleed valve is the source, it would be simple to close it more tightly.
What is of more concern is the thick brown stuff in the oil and on the oil filler cap. That is a sign that either coolant has entered the lubrication system and which if not corrected can damage the engine OR that a valve called the pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) valve or hose is blocked and so moisture that builds up in the crankcase is not being dealt with properly and thus the moisture is mixing with the oil. The former is possibly expensive, the latter is not if checked out and found to be the cause (install a new pcv valve which is under $5 for the part or replace a pcv hose).
You didn't mention which size (L) engine (there are two different types) you have so I can't describe exactly where to find the pcv valve and its hoses, but that is where I would suggest that you start, and as well you might want to change the oil. You also could listen as the engine warms up for any sounds of bubbling internal to the engine which would be a sign of the former type of issue, and of course overheating will follow from such an internal leak of coolant if present. Let me know what you find/learn.
