Chrysler Repair: No temp control: 97 Intrepid/Concorde, hi tim, actuator

Question
I have a 97 Intrepid 3.5 and can't change the heat temp from full blast hot.  The AC has been disconnected due to clutch failure and the belt removed. I have tried to move the temp thru the range and nothing changes.  The airflow will move between the floor/dash/defrost.  Suggestions?

Hi Tim,
The problem probably is the blend (temperature) door actuator or the door itself is stuck in the full heat position. That actuator is located on the underside of the unit just above the center tunnel (in-line with the center stack of the dash). If you remove the left and right underpanel silencer/ducts at the lower edge of the dash you will be able to see it. There are two screws that you remove from the right side and one screw from the left side to drop the actuator down from the housing. Note the position of the shaft as that has to be mated with a slot in the door. If you try to then turn on the engine and change the temp notice if the actuator is moving in response. If not then get a new actuator or one out of a wreck. If so then check the door action itself by inserting a bar the same size as the tip of the acturator and try to move it by hand to see if it might be jammed.
