Chrysler Repair: 2.7 timing chain: cause of exhaust sound?, loose nuts, exhaust noise

Question
I have a 2001 intrepid. I am having an issue with what sounds like exhaust noise in the intake when the engine is warm. I have replaced the water pump and primary timing chain ten. could this be a stretched timing chain that only shows up when the engine is warm..... on a cold start the engine runs smooth with no noise at all as it warms the noise starts and increases as it reaches normal operating temp. any help would be great.

Hi David,
Noises are hard to diagnose. I somehow doubt a strectched timing chain but I am not sure what that would sound like. I wish I could give you some advice but somehow that doesn't sound likely. Have you checked the exhaust manifolds to cylinder head/ exhaust pipe connections for loose nuts that might cause a slight exhaust leak? Be careful though not to break and studs which are by now quite brittle, so just use a light touch when checking the fittings.
