Chrysler Repair: 01T/C power rear liftgate does not work, rear liftgate, amp fuse

Question
I have a 2001 town and country lxi mini van with a 3.8 , 2 wheel drive. It has power sliding doors. The rear door only works when it wants to when i push the open or close button. I noticed that if i disconnect the smaller of the 2 plugs that go into the circuit board which is located in the back of the van near the door, Then once it is disconnect for about 15 minutes and then reconnected, then it will work. The door will open and close as it should. However , if i try it again a short time later, then it usually does not work without first disconnecting the plug again. Do you have any ideas what the cause and fix might be. It does not seem to be a loose wire in the harness.
Thanks
tom

Hi Tom,
You might want to look closely and check 40 amp fuse #32 in the box in the engine compartment just in case it may have a subtle crack in its wire that is opening and closing spontaneously as it is drawing current or not*. That plug also sends power to the lift gate motor and also power to the latch open/cinch function. It could be that the mechanical effort to open or cinch the latch is too great for the power function so consider the fit and lubrication aspects. The final possibility is that the body computer needs to 're-learn' the specifics of that door, which is mediated by a diagnostic readout box available probably only at a dealer, but that is a long shot.

*That sort of behavior in other circuits is similar to what you describe and involves a flaky fuse. Please let me know if you find something interesting.
