Chrysler Repair: 1998 plymouth voyager, 1998 plymouth voyager, plymouth voyager

Question
QUESTION: I have a '98 plymouth voyager with @65,000 (mostly local driving) miles.  Last week my van wouldn't start, the battery was nearly dead (very dim interior lights) We charged the battery with a portable charger, but it was dead within 3 hours.  We put in a new battery the next morning and it died within 8 hours.  Took the van to the mechanic who checked all fuses and could not find a problem.  He put in the 2nd new battery and told me to turn off the dial for the interior lights.  The battery seems to be holding up, but the lights keep flashing for the rear wiper and intermittent wiper.  Also, the oil light icon keeps going on and dinging, but we know the oil is fine.  After driving for @ 20 minutes these lights all go out, but the rest of the lights on the heater/air conditioning panel will not light up when turned on.  Any ideas?

ANSWER: are they still flashing?

QUESTION: Yes, each time you get in the car and start, the lights for the back wipers (both regular and intermittent) flash.  They sometimes stop if you are driving a long distance.

Answer
CALIBRATION/COOLDOWN LED DISPLAY CODES
See chart for definition of the flashing LED's noted before ignition cycled off. If no problems are found, the control functions normally.

NOTE: Calibration is run automatically whenever the control head detects a "new" VIN number. Calibration may be initiated manually by pressing and holding WASH and REAR WIPER buttons for 5 seconds

LED'S  PASS/FAIL  CORRECTIVE ACTION
NO LED'S FLASHING-NORMAL OPERATION  NONE  NONE
REAR WIPER AND INTERMITTENT LED'S FLASH SIMULTANEOUSLY  FAILED CALIBRATION DIAGNOSTICS  RUN CALIBRATION TEST
A/C AND RECIRC LED'S FLASH SIMULTANEOUSLY  FAILED COOLDOWN  RUN COOLDOWN TEST
REAR WIPER AND INTERMITTENT LED'S ARE FLASHING SIMULTANEOUSLY A/C AND RECIRC LED'S ARE FLASHING SIMULTANEOUSLY  FAILED CALIBRATION, DIAGNOSTICS AND FAILED COOLDOWN TEST  RUN BOTH TESTS

COOLDOWN TEST ENTRY
TO INITIATE TEST:
Set Blower motor ON HIGH
Open all A/C outlets
Depress A/C and WASH buttons simultaneously for 5 Seconds (Until all LED's light)
RESULTS:
All LED's will turn on for 5 Seconds.
Cooldown test is running if A/C and RECIRC are alternately flashing.
Acceptable result is when LED flashing stops.
Calibration Diagnostics and Cooldown must be run separately.
