Chrysler Repair: 41te trans: overheating?, torque converter clutch, power flushing

Question
QUESTION: On a 94 caravan 41te, i have no shifting problems, but after awhile it will started whining so i took it apart and --

I've noticed that the 2 hubs inside the clutch drum (rev, ud, od)  and maybe back to the gears, are starting to over heat and turning colors, any ideas why the lack of oil (again no slipping and proper shifting)?

None of the frictions or steels are burnt.

atf+4 is used.

can the valve bodies be switched, like an 85 for a 33??

All all pumps created equal (3.0, 3.3, 3.8)?

thank you

ANSWER: Hi Doug,
You know more about the internals of that etax than I!
My only suggestion would be to check out the connecting cooling lines and trans cooler (which is a side tank on the radiator) for possible partial blockage which would reduce the cooling efficiency of the trans fluid. Also, if the torque converter clutch is not looking up when you are cruising that too is a source of additional heat due to slippage. So the combination of either additional heat or reduced cooling would be the possible causes of your observation.

QUESTION: Can the cooler lines be blown out or flushed out with?????

Answer
Hi Doug,
The manual describes using a power flushing tool (Miller 6906A) and a transmission flushing compound (petroleum based designed to clean transmission parts, but no specific name given). You hook the device up to the cooler lines that you disconnect from the transmission and run it in the reverse direction from the normal direction of flow. Pressure in the system should run at around 20 psi after running for 2-3 minutes. Pump out the cleaning solution. Then flush through 1 quart of ATF+4. Maybe a trans shop would do this service as economically as buying the necessary pump/compound to do the job.
