Chrysler Repair: 2001 t&c: code p0206, fuel gauge, electrical response

Question
Hi Roland, First let me say thanks for your help in a previous question I had about van. You were right. There was a short in the wiring harness. Got that fixed. Now the fuel gauge was on empty with gas in it. Banged on the fuel access door and the gauge started to move up and is still up but im not sure if its correct. After a few days of driving it is now running rough at idle but when i accelerate its fine. I got a P0206 code which is a fuel injector code. But could it be the fuel pump itself? Thats the only code that the van is giving me. Thanks

Answer
Hi Alisha,
You are very welcome. The 0206 code is specific to the cylinder #6 fuel injector so I believe it is probably credible and not likely an issue with the fuel supply itself. It is saying that the engine controller doesn't get an electrical response it would expect if the injector and its wires were functioning properly. So take a look at the wires to the injector for possibly having damaged insulation and if none then you might want to check the continuity of the pcm wire: the brown/violet goes to pin 14 of the pcm. The brown white wire should be found to be connected to any of the brown/white wires at the other 5 injectors. Make sure that the wire to pin 14 is connected, and also that it isn't shorted to ground. If that checks out you may want to replace the injector.
