Chrysler Repair: 00 Neon: radiator fan intermittent, camshaft position sensor, upper radiator hose

Question
I am trying to help a friend of mine with a problem he has with his Chrysler Neon model 2000. The cooling fan keeps switching on and off too often for normal functioning( 3 seconds plus minus, on and 3 seconds off and repeats the cycle). The water reservoir makes the typical noise of boiling water but the temperature gauge is steady in the middle. I want to check the temperature transducer and the thermostat but I don't know the location of them,. Can you help me?
Thank you very much

Answer
Hi Domingo,
The problem could be a failing fan motor, or a failing fan relay (located in the middle of the front row of relay sockets in the underhood power box, try exchanging it for a different relay with the same part number), or a flaky fuse (#6 in the same box or #10 under the dash), or as you asked about the coolant temp sensor (which is mounted to the rear of the cylinder head, just to the left of the camshaft position sensor, it has 2 wires: tan/black and black/light blue). The thermostat is at the front of the left side of the cylinder block inside the fitting to which coolant is added and the upper radiator hose is attached. I would suspect the relay, then a fuse, and finally the sensor, in that order of likelihood.
Please let me know what you learn.
