Chrysler Repair: poor door lock: mini-van sliding door, sliding door lock, snap fasteners

Question
The rear passenger sliding door lock on my 06 Dodge Caravan does not work with the key fob or the automatic door locks.

Answer
Hi Todd,
The latest manual I have is for '02 but it probably applies to your van's door. If you want to check the lock actuation motor you have to remove the trim panel on the door.
Begin by removing the molding around the window upper frame which has snap fasteners. Remove screw from pull cup. Remove push-in fasteners from around trim panel and upper edge of door (12). Then remove the panel.
Locate the lock motor. It has a 4-wire connector. Pins 1 and 2 actuate the motor. If the door is manual the wire colors on those pins are tan/light blue and tan/dark blue if power, black/dark blue and black/tan if manual. Test the motor by putting 12v across the pins then reverse poslarity. That should provoke the lock/unlock action. If that seem ok, then test the voltage on the supply wire to see if it is putting on the voltage when you try to actuate the motor. If not, let me know and I'll tell you the wiring connections.
Power for the locks is provided by fuses 19 and 20 but they also power the front door locks so probably a fuse is not the cause.
