Chrysler Repair: Blower fan only high/replacing antenna:02 minivan, blower motor resistor, intake plenum

Question
My 2002 caravan heater fan works on high only. What do i fix?  Also antenna on same vehicle needs replaced. Where do i access mounts on fender? Under hood or wheel well or inside car??

Answer
Hi Daryl,
I assume that the unit is a conventional temp control unit, not an automatic temp control unit.
If so, then the problem is the blower motor resistor block which provides the various voltage levels for the lower speed blower operations. It is located behind the glovebox, positioned with the resistors inserted into the air intake plenum on the other side of the firewall. To get to it you simply open the glove box fully, then squeeze on the sides near the top edge so that the rubber stops on either side will clear the opening and the box will be allowed to come out further and drop down. Looking inside you will see a rectangular electrical plug with a harness and a pigtail wire which you remove. Then the screws on either side of the socket are removed and that allow you pull the resistor block out for replacement. Reverse the procedure to install the new resistor block.
On the antenna, it involves work both inside the car and the wheel well.  You will want to work on it at the same time you do the resistor block because you need to drop the glove box down to allow you to disconnect the antenna wire. The kick trim panel needs to be removed to further deal with the wire. Then to remove the antenna you have to lift the wheel and remove it, then remove the entire inner fender splash shield so as to access the under side of the fender and to to remove the antenna. There are a couple of pages that show the details that I can xerox and postal mail to you. Let me know a postal mailing address and I will send those to you.
