Question
when the car is idling it sputters or stumbles and when the car is running when you give it a lot of gas the power light comes on it stumbles or feels like it wants to stall the power loss light comes on for a fraction of a second then it goes off and then it picks up and goes

Answer
Hi Steven,
Try getting the fault codes that may be stored in the logic module:Use the ignition key turning it "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the power loss light, which remains 'on', to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to verify an accurate set of flash counts. Then group the counts in pairs in the order of appearance to form the two-digit fault code numbers. Then write back or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a code list and we'll go from there to solve the problem.
You might also want to check the egr valve to make sure that its stem moves freely and that it closes to a dead stop by means of its internal spring-ation. If not, spray the stem with WD-40 where it enters the body of the valve and work it back and forth until the spring closes it positively.
