Chrysler Repair: 98 Sebring - No Bus in Odometer, gauges dont work., socket pins, tilt column

Question
I have essentially the same problem as described by a previous person (Daron) at the link below:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Chrysler-Repair-807/2009/6/bus-odometer-02-Sebring.ht...

Although I have a 98 JXI sebring convertible, my fuel gauge also goes flat, and the lights that go on in my car when this happens are the abs, air bag, and brake.  Is your answer to Daron’s question also apply to my vehicle?  Is it pin 2 for my vehicle as well?  Would you be able to give the steps to remove the cluster?  I am not very knowledgeable with cars, but my father has done plenty of work on this own cars, though he’s no mechanic.  He would likely be able to get the job done if I give him directions.  Thanks so much for your help!  It is much appreciated, as are viewing your previous answers!  Thanks again!

Answer
Hi Thomas,
Your "no bus" solution is likely a similar solution to Daron's. There are 2 plugs on the cluster and the blue one carries the digital bus signals from the body computer. There are two wires, on pins 7 and 8, that you would want to check to be sure that the socket pins are soldered to the circuit board.
The cluster hood is first removed:
remove the left dash end cap
tilt column down to lowest position
remove the bezel around the heater/ac and radio by disengaging 5 clips
Then remove the 3 screw hidden under that bezel, remove 1 screw at the left end of the hood (where the end cap was), then pull the hood straight back. (If you have compass/minitrip computer then disconnect its wire after pulling hood back 3", reach through the radio opening and disconnect the wire, then remove the hood.)
Then you can remove the 4 screws that hold the cluster and unplug its two plugs.
Assembly is the reverse. When installing the hood keep the forward edge down on the panel so as to engage the clips.
