Chrysler Repair: 1996 3.5L harmonic damper/crank bolt removal, harmonic damper, bolt removal

Question
Is there an easy way to get the center bolt out of the harmonic damper, I don't have air tools and am doing the job with hand tools only. It is posing a bit of a challenge, this bolt is a right hand thread correct? Also is the direction of rotation for the engine, while facing the engine CW or CCW.

Thanks,
Joe

Answer
Hi Joseph,
Yes, the bolt is right-hand threaded. The direction of engine rotation is clockwise when viewed from the front. If you are having trouble getting the crankshaft to hold while you try to unwind the bolt you might go the to inspection plate at the underside of the transmission/engine interface and see if you can wedge a bar with one of the teeth on the flex plate that is used by the starter motor to crank the engine. That will ideally lock up the crank from rotating and allow you to release the bolt with a long bar.
