Chrysler Repair: 1994 LHS harmonic pulley, damper pulley, timing belt tensioner

Question
I have the bolt off the Harmonic pulley but can't get it off the shaft.  Is there a allen screw holding it in place or what is best way to slide it off the crankshaft?  I believe I have a timing belt idler with a bad bearing.  What is best way to keep cam pulley/shaft in place once I take the timing belt off?

Answer
Hi Martin,
Because you mention timing belt that means you have the 3.5L engine.  On that harmonic damper there is nothing but friction holding it on, but you most likely need to use a puller to remove it.
The manual shows a Miller tool #1023, and a with an insert to put in the bolt hole #C-4685-C2, and the jaws of the puller are to be applied to the openings in metal center section of the damper/pulley.
I am not sure what you mean by keeping the cam pulley in place once you take off the belt because nothing should be turning it. You begin by lining up the timing marks on the cam pulleys against the mark on the rear surface of the timing belt covers. Then remove the timing belt tensioner and then remove the belt. To reinstall the tensioner you have to put it in a vice and compress it and put a  retaining pin (such as an alan head wrench) in the hole of the piston. Put it in so that it is oriented in the manner it will go back on the engine such that you can pull the pin out after installation. To install the belt, after verifying all the cams/crank marks are aligned, start at the crank sprocket and go counterclockwise with the belt, and after the belt has gone around the right sprocket keep tension on the belt until it has gone around the tensioner pulley. Then holding tensioner pulley against the belt, install the tensioner and tighter bolt to 250 inch-pounds. Then pull the pin on the tensioner. Rotate crank 2 turns then check timing mark alignments.
