Chrysler Repair: 1996 Chrysler Town & Country, negative battery cable, cable clamp

Question
After car is turned off, Parking lights turn on, appear dim,
then turn off. 1/2 hour later, blink again two or three
times then off. 20 min. later blink on for 10 seconds then
off. Very intermittent with no recognizable sequence. Rear
lights may also come on intermittently after car is turned
off. Negative Battery cable a little frayed. Could this be
the cause?

Answer
Hi Alex,
I am unclear what you mean by rear lights as compared to parking lights. Usually those come on simultaneously when you put the headlamp switch in the 'park' position.
It could be a poor ground connection at the - battery cable/clamp interface or the clamp/battery post interface or the cable/body grounds of the wires connected to that clamp. The lights you mentioned are actually activated by the body computer which monitors the headlamp switch and responds to it. With that in mind, any intermittent battery supply current, which is also used even when the ignition is 'off', could cause gremlin with that body computer.
