Chrysler Repair: 3.3L lifters: diagnosis and removal, hydraulic tappets, throttle valve

Question
will the lifters come out the head push rod hole in either the 3.3 or 3.8 in a
1994 motor.  thanks

Answer
Hi Doug,
I am afraid not. Both my '93 and '95 manuals begin with the removal of the cylinder heads and intake manifold for access to service the hydraulic tappets. Are you certain they are the problem? Try listening to the loudness when the engine rpm is increased rapidly vs when it is decreased rapidly, using the throttle valve. It is probably not the tappets if the loudness of the sound of the clicking is quite different between those two modes.
