Chrysler Repair: 1997 Chrysler Cirrus: missing at idle/highway speeds, wd 40, chrysler cirrus

Question
When I drive my Cirrus on the highway sometimes it jolts and this is not when it is changing gears. And then when I am at stoplights the engine will stall if i don't rev the engine up, Any suggestions on where I should start? I'm thinking maybe its the fuel pump?

Answer
Hi Jacob,
Try to get the fault codes, if any stored in the engine controller. You will be able to get a free readout at an Autozone parts store or for $40 at an independent shop. I doubt the fuel pump, but it is possibility. Take a look at the egr valve and check to make sure that the stem moves freely (look for the stem in area between the vacuum actuator and the valve, use the tip of a screwdriver in the slot of the stem; if spring-action doesn't close it firmly to a dead stop spray some WD-40 on the stem where it enters the valve body).
Let me know any fault codes.
