Chrysler Repair: 2002 T&C Electrical Problem: blower, starter, radio/remote key, blower motor resistor, power fan

Question
All these issues started at the same time on my 2002 Town & Country and I was hoping that you would be able to help with Diagnosis.  Starter would click once, gauges would maxout and go back to beginning.  This happens randomly on starting and takes anywhere from 1 to 10 times to start but always starts.  Keyless door opener and sliding door stopped working(Sliding door works from within vehicle when started).  Radio has no power.  Fan only works on high setting.  Dealer is requesting $392 to look at and stated this doesn't apply to any work done after diagnostics.  Can you help isolate this issue?

Answer
Hi Al,
I see one tie-in of these issues: fuse 14 in the power box under the hood is needed by both the radio and keyless module, so check that one for a crack in the wire or a blow out.
The starting/gauge reset issue may reflect a starter motor that is getting weak, but is drawing high current without putting it to work, which drops the voltage on the battery which is why the gauges cycle. If you reliably get a click, and your battery is not near the end of its warranty, then I would suspect the starter. Otherwise the battery might be replaced at this point.
The fan operating only on high is diagnostic for a blown blower motor resistor block. You can change it yourself but get a replacement so  you will know what to look for. I would disconnect the battery to do the job, just in case of a short. Then open the glove and squeeze its side to allow it to drop down to reveal the area behind the box. There you will see the resistor block with its 2 plugs and the 2 screws that hold it in the air box. Just remove the plugs and screws and replace the block.
