Chrysler Repair: airbag light on:, horn functions, 1998 plymouth breeze

Question
I had to disconnect a wire from a wiring harness that controlled my horn on a 1998 plymouth breeze.  the 20amp fuse would immediately blow when inserted with relay in or out.  after much testing i discovered that one wire was responsible for this.  so i disconnected the wire.  I believe the wire must be a power supply for a radio amp that was not installed in the car. when i removed this wire the horn functions properly.  during the hours it took me to isolate and disconnect i onced turned on the key with the airbag removed from the steering wheel.  I believe this is the reason i now have the airbag light on in the dash.  will this reset itself after many starts and stops?  Do I have to have a scan tool to reset this code.  thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Jon,
What is the color of the wire you disconnected?  I don't believe there is a delay on the air bag light reset, so it may be that the air bag too is not connected properly. Tell me about the wire color and anything else that is no longer the same. Which fuse # would be blowing? There are two clocksprings in the unit with separate plugs:a natural color one for the horn and speed control switch and a yellow one for the air bag. The wires for the airbag are dark green/light blue and black/light blue and they go to pins 3 and 4 at the yellow plug at the air bag control module. You could check those wires for continuity between the airbag plug and the module, but be sure to disconnect the bag before doing any testing so as not to set it off.
Begin by disconnecting the - post clamp from the remote on the strut tower and isolating it. The control module is on the floor directly in front of the floor mounted gear shifter. You probably need to remove the floor console to find it.
