Chrysler Repair: 2006 Chrysler Sebring oil leak, chrysler sebring, 2006 chrysler sebring

Question
I have 2006 Chrysler Sebring, 4 cylinder, automatic 4 dr.  We have an oil leak above the oil filter, and cannot find it...any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Dan,
I don't have a manual so new as '06, and I guess there is a 2.0 and a 2.4L engine (that is what is shown in my '03 manual. In general however oil leaks other than from the oil filter or the pressure sender fitting happen at the valve cover edge and dribble down the side of the engine. So check to see if the valve cover screws might be a little bit loose and look at the pressure sender unit next to the oil filter to see if it might be leaking and need replacement or come slightly ajar. Be careful with tightening the sender unit because it has tapered threads so it can't be torqued too tightly or it will crack the block or strip the threads.
