Chrysler Repair: 1999 chrysler 300m a/c doesnt get cold air, pressure sensitive switch, radiator shop

Question
fuses are o.k. only one of the fans turn on when the car and the a/c has been on for a while. what could be the problem?

Answer
Hi Tony,
The other fan will only come on when the temperature of the coolant in the engine gets high enough to require it. Lack of cooling from the ac system is most commonly caused by loss of refrigerant in the system. When you ask for ac you should notice the compressor come on and if one radiator fan hasn't been required up to that point, one fan will also start up when the compressor kicks on. If that doesn't happen then the most likely cause is too low a level of refrigerant in the system. There is a pressure sensitive switch that will lock out the compressor if the refrigerant level is too low. So I would start at an ac/heater/radiator shop and have them check the pressure of refrigerant in the system.
