Chrysler Repair: 2.7 timing, sebring conv, intake plenum

Question
Kevin,
Recently I replaced the water pump on my 01 sebring conv with a 2.7 liter. I marked the timing marks as not to make a mistake of putting the timing chain back on wrong. Everything seems to be in time. I turned the motor over by hand to make sure the valves do not hit the pistons. Everything is back together, plugged in etc... Motor will not start. Will turn over, but will not hit a lick. Has fire to the plugs. Not sure about fuel to the cylinders, so I sprayed a little chemtool in the intake plenum and nothing happened. Any suggestions? Larry

Answer
Hi Larry,
Do you hear the fuel pump run for about 1 second when you turn the key to  the "run" position, which you should? Do you hear the injectors click while you are cranking it over? If so, then since you have spark, I would expect you have fuel.
You could pull the plugs on the front bank and see if they are wet, and also while you do that pull the ASD relay then use a compression tester to see if the compression on those cylinders are about equal and approaching 100 psi (though that is based on having all 6 plugs out when you crank the engine and the engine being warm so it might be lower).
If you have spark/fuel/compression you should have signs of "life". If not, how about the egr valve being stuck ajar. Anything else that would affect mixture would be suspect.
