Chrysler Repair: 2005 town and country touring: oil comsumption, bells and whistles, minivan

Question
my t &c touring minivan is burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles.  It wasn't
so bad 10,000 miles ago.  Chrysler says this is normal.  At least they said that
while it was under warranty.  Now it has 50k and I am afraid the motor is
about to blow.  there is never any oil under it, so it has to be going
somewhere.  Is it in by best interest to get rid of it while I can still get more
than what I owe on it ?  I really do love all the bells and whistles, and now to
replace it, it's over $31,000. Do I stay away from Chrysler all together ?

Answer
Hi Doobie,
A quart per thousand is not terribly bad. If you are concerned you could check the compression of the front cylinders that are more easily accessed and see how the seem to be relative to eachother. If there are no sounds of wear from the bearings (deep thumping) then I would stick with it.  I haven't heard of a problem with the big V-6's.
