Chrysler Repair: engine coolant sensor: 2.5L V-6, engine coolant, plymouth breeze

Question
can you tell me where the engine coolant sensor is located on a 96 dodge plymouth breeze?  I have to replace the sensor as the check engine light indicates.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Paula,
If you look at the base of the neck where you pour in new coolant (it has the pressure cap on its top), at the base of that neck on the side next to the air inlet tube that flows from the air filter housing to the engine, you will see the sensor. Disconnect its wire plug by gently lifting tab on its side to release. Go to the lower right rear corner of the radiator, open the draincock (turn out all the way to end of threads, then pull out if necessary), drain down about a quart or two of coolant from the radiator to get the level lower than the coolant sensor orifice (collect in pan), remove and replace the sensor, tighten it to 5 foot-pounds (careful, don't overdo it), then refill with the drained and collected coolant, and of course replace the wire plug.
