Chrysler Repair: 2001 town country transmission, 4 digit numbers, independent garages

Hi,I have a 2001 town country.When I get in and start the van either when the van is hot or cold.It goes into reverse just fine.when I shift into drive it wont engage for about 30 seconds.Then you can feel a small clunk ,goes into gear and takes off.I replaced the solenoid shift pack today hoping it would solve the problem.It didnt.Transmission was rebuilt about 30 k mi ago.Has been grest up until now?Thanks in advance

Hi Dan,
The manuals have all given up on giving you possibilites based upon symptoms, instead directing to the fault code readout. You can get that for free at most Autozone parts stores or for less than $40 at most independent garages. An OBD-II fault code reader plugs into a socket under the dash to the left of the steering column and it tells you some 4-digit numbers, at least one of which will relate to the problem with the transmission. Aside from checking for adequate fluid level in the trans that would be the start. Let me know what numbers you get and we'll go from there.
