Chrysler Repair: 1999 Town & Country BCM, car wash water, electronic circuit board

Question
When I was driving to local mall this X-Mas season I noticed that my dash and overhead instrument panels were flashing. When I left the mall and inserted key to unlock the alarm system went off (lights flashing, horn honky). I checked all fuses, disconnect and reconnected battery. I tried everything the manual suggest to reset alarm with not succcess. Could this be the body control module gone bad?

Answer
Hi Joan,
The one possibility that might be at play here is if some rain water or car wash water got in via the lower left corner of the windshield and dripped down on the body control module/fuse-junction box package that is under the dash directly below that possible leak site. If you haven't corrected this situation you might try removing the lower knee blocker from the edge of the dash panel and then, after disconnecting the battery and unplugging all the plugs, try spraying the plugs and sockets of both those modules with electronic circuit board cleaner from a pressure can (available at electronics stores). That will evaporate and take with it any water that may be shorting out the BCM. There is also an interface between those two parts that contains electrical connectors which if separated would also be a good area to spray. If water intrusion has not been a problem then don't bother with this.
Try disconnecting fuse 28 (IOD) at one end of the box that is under the hood near the battery for a few minutes, then reinsert and see if that might have cancelled the alarm.

PS Sorry for the delay, I just saw your question in the "pool" to which it had been referred.
